Miners Needle
This trail isn’t too bad as most of the trail is cutting across an open plain, but with the feel of an Arizona trail still. While not flat the entire way, there’s not much elevation gain to this one until you come upon the curve that leads to the needle. While this one can’t be seen from the road, this one you get a nice long view of as you grow closer, then circle around it to come up behind. And unlike Weavers where you need climbing gear, this one we can climb the incline of the needle that leads to a look out.
This trailhead starts at the Peralta Trailhead at the end of Peralta road in Gold Canyon. Take 60 east through Gold Canyon, pass Kings ranch road, then take a left at the next light, Peralta Road. Peralta trailhead is the last parking lot at the end. This does start off as a paved road but turns to dirt for 5-6 miles. Last few times I went it was pretty smooth, but after hard rains it can alter it some.
If you have your own gear you’ll just have to pay for the hike. If you need gear, you’ll have to purchase a hike and pay for the rental & deposit.
